    I found the problem.  It seems that I had already had my mail
    reader open but didn't notice it since it was reduced to an icon
    and hidden behind an open window.  In effect I had my mail reader
    operating twice at the same time and I must've saved the first
    one's replies and sent that by mistake.  This Windows stuff takes
    a little getting used to.
