       The heavy black rod is slower than a heavy bone mace, so try to
get a mace first.  Also, the "reel" effect from the mace is MUCH more
useful than the blind effect of the rod.  But anyways, the rod (to me)
seems like a cheap replacement for a heavy bone mace.  If you can, get
your Str to 70, go evil, and get a hell-flail.  I've been using one for
the past week or so, and it rocks.
