That way, I have never been. You're describing the 101 while I always
use the 5. One day I would like to use the 101 and visit all those
coastal towns in Calif and Ore and even Astoria where Kindergarden Cop

 I remember driving through the upper lake region on a secondary road
near Truckee off I-5 in winter after a radical snow storm. The street
was plowed, but the snow was at least 4' deep at the road edges, so you
felt as if you were in a snow maze. Some structures were nearly buried
in snow with some icicles being as thick and large as small trees.
Awesome! Maybe not so to our friends in the white north, for us southern
Californians, where 1 cm of snow is an event, this was spectacular!
