       Your crit rate is a factor of your total swings and they area you
are in has *NO* effect on it.  Your character will crit just as often in
the slums as it will in the obsidian passage.  I have tested this
theory multiple times with several characters and its never failed.
Also, if you want bigger crits, get a 2 handed weapon.
