I thought I'd go back and try an ipatch to gshell from the ground up and keep a
sort of log of ident changes along the way to the latest version but didn't get
past square 1.  Maybe it's too long ago to remember what the first step is;
correct me if I'm wrong:
  Take a stock gshell and apply the gshell.ipc patch thusly:

Ipatch gshell.ipc gshell gshell+ -v

I get:

IPatch Version 1.1
CopyRight (c) 1987 By R.M.Santy
Patch entry for $0002
Changes 2 bytes
Old file data mismatch at $0002
is $FF, should be $3F
Patch NOT complete
ERROR #001

If I do an ident on gshell after this attempted patch I get
>module header incorrect<

So what's going on?    -ph-
