IR>BI>Thought you would be interested. Just bought a 1964 Corvair Rampside
IR>BI>Pick-up. All original tin, 55k on the clock, 4-speed and radio. It
IR>BI>runs, but the carbs need to be cleaned and rebuilt. $3200.00. I also
IR>BI>got a 64 Greenbriar with it for parts with 57k on the speedo.
IR>BI>---
IR>Hmmmm...well, the Rampside is more rare than the Greenbriar, but the
IR>Greenbriar, in my opinion, would be more fun. What kind of condition
IR>are they in?

The Greenbriar is nothing but a parts car. Floor is rotted and parts
have been stolen while it was parked in the woods. All of the glass is
commplete as is the engine and trans-axle.
The Rampside is in good to excellent condition, although it was
painted with one of the best paint brushes available, it will have to be
stripped and re-painted. The carbs need to be rebuilt and the clutch
needs to be replaced. I ran a compression test today and they were all
in the 140-145 range with no more than 5psi different. I also need a
windshield because of a stone chip. The interior has been completelly
redone, has new tires (correct for the year in type and size) complete
tool kit and original jack. It also has complete MATCHING numbers
through-out!!This is the last year for the Rampside and there were only
800 made
If you are looking for original parts for your Corvair, get a hold
of "Clarks Corvair Parts". There address is Route 2, Shelburne Falls,
Mass. 01370. Telephone is 413-625-9776. They charge $5.00 for the
catalog (non refundable), but they have over 7500 parts in stock and
they collect and restore Corvairs of their own.
