Aha. So the port will hold DTR on whether there is a terminal program running
or not?  That explains why the modem would stay online sometimes whnen I was
madly playing with INIZ & DEINIZ & XMODE - if I left it "linked" it held the
modem.  I haven't tried it yet, but I think I could send my dialing command
with "echo (atdt-etc) >/t0" before I start Sterm and avoid the mystery lock-up
that way too. Maybe put it in a procedure file. (Or, maybe I should track down
the real cause of the problem instead of making fancier band-aids hehe.)
