Glen,

Well, here's the full scoop, and I hope you can pass it around.

Since the Atlant CoCo Fest, we have had two challenges. To ensure that our
parts list for the manufacturer was bullet-proof (one distributor sent us a
chip as an equivalent that was NOT an equivalent and gave developer machines a
tizzy until we discovered the problem!); and the FCC certification.

The MM/1 was designed from the ground up with FCC certifiable parts. This
includes ferite beads on the connectors and a bunch of attention to grounding
and so on. So the lab we used was delighted with the system and requested only
TWO small changes. First, on the case we use, there was a little paint
overspray. This is common on PC clone cases and is no doubt present on all
those PC clones you see advertized in the Shopper or other computer magazines
that are not FCC certified. Second, the keybaord connector on the front of our
machine was not grounded -- a small oversight in the integration process.

So we sent the machine back to them with these fixes -- and the machine arrived
damaged.

By the time we got all this fixed up, time had slipped by.

We hate delays, Glen. We want to ship ASAP. But it is illegal to sell a non-FCC
approved machine. It is also IMS policy to create a MAINSTREAM company with
MAINSTREAM software and a legal, regulated, certified product.

So what is the status now? FCC lab says that they'll have the lab portion done
any day now. Hooray!

And, IMS has an idea up their sleeve to get machines in your hands ASAP. It's
legal, fun, and will make thousands of OSK and future OSK folks happy.

TTFN.

Best regards,
