Frank, as far as I can tell, with DMODE the MM/1 driver (actually the
descriptor) can be set to read any format known, as long as it's "known" what
it is, grin. MM/1's "standard" is 33 (or 34?) sectors per track -- some folks
use more, but it isn't 100% safe.

I hear that some "standards" (new ones) are just bypassing Track 0, with its
confusion as to what density it is.

Anyway, there is a set of about 6 parameters that serve to describe any format
well enuf that with DMODE you can zap a descriptor to read it.  If we could
settle on a common set of names for those parameters, then vendors could label
disks with the key parameters.  I've scribbled a fewon your DS 3.5" disk
already, grin.

Oh yes, Coco 720K DS-80T 3.5" disks don't read on an MM/1 without changing a
few parameters either.  So many standards -- so little time -mike k.
