Bob,
 The documentation in the Microware manual is misleading: under creat(), it
says "The permissions are ..." when it means "The access permissions ...". The
function you want to use is create():
 create(name,mode,perm[,initial_size])
 where mode is the access permissions as in creat(), perm is the file's
attributes - what you are wanting to set.
 You can probably guess how I knew the answer to this one so fast!
