I recently downloaded sh.ar from user 76416,2451 in DL12, in fact, I did it
twice.  Both copies were trashed at about the 50 percent point. That is ar
unpacked about half and then reported that the file was not an ar or was
damaged.

Do you have a backup copy of the file you could post?  Having messed with
Microware's shell, I am curious to see how some one else did a shell.
