MC> time with all my receipts from both trips, I found out that the minimum
MC> tax amount PER receipt must be $3.50 for a GST refund for non
MC> Canadians. This means that you have to spend at least about $45 per
MC> receipt. Most things I bought were below $45, so the only refund that
MC> qualified was for was accomodations. So, when I made all my purchases I
MC> quietly smiledin, eh, knowing I'd get my GST back while Canadians all
MC> over complained about the tax. I guess that laugh was on me. :>
Thanks for telling me the crock of garbage that the CNDN gov. is pulling on
guests in our country. I didn't know about that "little" tax requirement. I was
lead to believe it was all GST that was given back to visitors to Canada.
Right now with that knowledge I'm feeling a bit ashamed to be a Canadian.
But that's OK, Nicolae, don't feel bad, you did get some tax back, eh. Any
time I've been in the US, I paid every tax for ny money I spent and no matter
how much it was I didn't get any refund back, eh. Our nice customs sometimes
get Canadians coming back into Canada, when people buy and bring back more
than what's allowed, they have to pay taxes on anything over what we're allowed
and if you don't pay the tax, it's taken away from you at the border, eh.
MC> That reminds me of another famous quote said by an elderly actor some
MC> time ago: " If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have
MC> taken better care of myself." Don't ask why, but that made me think of
MC> it. -!-
That happens sometime and for the life of me I've never been able to figure
that one out, yet, eh. >;>~~~~~~~
