DA>Hugh,
DA> Witchunters have their ups and downs, granted, but, what they get
DA>is not worth what they pay. They need to do something, wether it be
DA>more NON magical items, or completely redesign the magic resistance
DA>system where being a Witchunter MEANS something when it comes to
DA>resisting magic... currently its effectiveness is laughable at best.
DA>Sure, it reduces the damage of incoming spells upto a maximum of 50%
DA>damage reduction, but... the fact of the matter is, with high magic res
DA>those spells should NOT be getting thru in the first place.
Having 50% of the damage from a mage/druid/priest/etc spell isn't
enough for you? I'm sorry, but having the spells fully resisted is
insane. If that's your version of "balance", then you're nuts. What's
a mage supposed to do? Swipe at the WH with his rosewood staff, or a
druid with his darkwood staff?
The fact of the matter is, magic resistance means just what it
says, you can resist magic to a certain degree. You'll resist
confusion, partial petrification and such ALOT easier than a Warrior,
and you'll resist that 50% alot more often than the Warrior will (until
higher levels, and even then, you'll still resist conf/petr/etc). From
what I've seen, the Mres system is fine. A local WH resists almost
every spell I cast, and the damage spells do LOW damage to him. If
that's not enough of an advantage for you, then maybe you're playing the
wrong class.
DA> To me, balance would be creating a non magical item that was on
DA>par with some of the better magical weapons for damage and accuracy...
DA>errr, in the hands of a COMBAT 5, that is... They can design it... just
DA>mess with the settings and the weight... THEN a warrior and Witchunter
DA>would be on equal playing fields for damage and accuracy, and a
DA>Witchunter might actually have a chance of killing a mage if he was
DA>extra lucky then... shrug...
DA>- Daytona
Warriors and Witchies shouldn't be on the same level. Where
would the balance be then if a WH could just as easily defeat a Mage as
a Warrior that's fully stacked?
And one more time, if you dislike and distaste WH's so much, why
do you continue playing the class? Reroll if another class suits you.
If you want a real challenge, play a Ranger or something. That 250%
exp chart would keep anyone busy for a very long time.
