Something I've sometimes wanted, was the number of clock cycles necessary to
execute a given instruction and a total for the program (or maybe for
sub-routines). Sure, it can be looked up but what a job. Can that be added as
an option?
Another area I suspect may be hairy for you is handling the various addressing
modes - especially if we want the assembler to select the proper mode for us.
While we don't want a slow assembler, absolute speed isn't as important as ease
of use and understanding. Code that is easy to understand will result in
writing code with fewer errors requiring fewer assembly attempts. So, even if
we want more from the assembler, if its easier to use, the total time should be
less.
And I assume a linker will be included so we can write short routines.
Well, I've gotten pretty windy - only a good assembler should be this verbose!
