I guess the bad news is that it got shunted aside for a while because of the
new 68K machines.

The good news is that the interest kept up enough that the long-delaying docs
are being worked on again. The other good news is that you got a nice slice of
it already via the fast-Grfdrv and gfx2 uploads.

Also, something may be happening which'll put a new slant on this whole deal.
