Hmmm...sounds like somehow you're emitting a CR there, and if that is done
using I$Writeln instead of I$Write, and the path descriptor has the option set
to cause CRs to be followed by LFs, then that could happen.  Could you post a
code fragment to show what is happening?  (Don't forget the SU (save
unformatted) when you do that.)
