*New* Rules for the MajorNet MajorMUD forum.
MajorMUD Forum Offences:
Overquoting:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Quoting properly and neatly takes maybe twenty or so seconds at
the most, yet many people seem too lazy to take that time. This
offence will result in ONE warning, which will be your first and
last warning. If your quoting habits still have not changed, I
will write to your sysop and have your access to this forum
removed. This may seem harsh, but if I have to remove users who
are unable to co-operate with the rules to make the forum clean
for those that do, So be it. If you do receive one of these
warnings, remember that it is not a personal attack.
Examples of Overquoting:
- Failing to delete *ALL* BBS stamps in quoted text. (Beginning
with "---", and then "Sent Via MailLink"). I know these can be
seen as petty, but believe me, they add up.
- Quoting un-needed text. If you wish to respond to what Person A
said, do not quote what Person B said. Use your best judgement
here. If you think you're quoting too much, trim it down. When
in doubt, quote as little as possible without making your message
  totally cryptic.
Posting Flames:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Posting of flames should go without saying, yet lots of people seem
to think it's allowed. I'm sick of it as are many others. Posting
of a SINGLE flame will result in a letter to your sysop requesting
your access to this forum is removed. If no action is taken within
a week's time, The BBS will be removed from the MailLink echo of
the MajorMUD Forum. If this seems unfair, tough. I'm not trying
to please flame posters.
Examples of Flames:
- Again, use your judgement. Saying someone's idea "sucks" isn't
quite a flame. Personal attacks of any kinds, however, will not
be tolerated. Calling someone a f-ing moron for posting an idea
you did not agree with is not acceptable.
Profanity:
-=-=-=-=-=-
This falls under the category of flames for simplicity. Posting
a post filled with profanity will receive the same results as the
posting of a flame. Occasional profanity may be allowed to slip,
yet if it becomes a common occurance, will be dealt with similarly.
Advertising:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
After speaking with several people, I have come to the decision to
not ban advertising, seeing as some boards need it for survival. Of
course these advertisements will be limited to boards with MajorMUD,
so as to keep the general theme of the forum. This will hopefully
keep the forum from flooding with advertisements. Excessive use
of advertising (more than once or twice a week), however can get
annoying, and I would ask that boards wishing to advertise keep it
to a maximum of 1 per week.
Off-topic Posts:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This forum is for discussion about MajorMUD, and topics related
to MajorMUD. Local board discussions and other types of off-topic
messages will be forwarded to your sysop, requesting the matter to
be dealt with. If off-topic posts become commonplace, Your board
will be removed from the forum.
These rules have been heavily modified due to the lack of courtesy
by certain people within the forum. I will be forced to be a jerk
to keep this forum clean, so ignorance of the rules will not be an
excuse. If you see a user of yours posting a questionable message,
have them read it over so the matter may be dealt with quickly. I
do not want to un-neccesarily remove boards from this forum, but I
will if I have to.
I will also post a summary at the end of the month, with details on
what the situation is like for your board. I hope this will help
get the users that do obey the rules involved to assist in this
cleanup.
If you have any questions or comments in general about the rules
above, please feel free to write to me at "ForumOp@WCC"
