Pete,

That's exactly what I did in a recent utility I wrote. I could only guesstimate
the actual size of the output file, so I set the size to the max I thought it
might be, to try to get it in one contiguous chunk, if possible. Then I just
made sure to set the file size equal to the current position in the file when
all done, works great, no counters to maintain!
