   When that happens to me I just say, "This is a lost cause, if I'm talking
   to myself, communication with you is just not possible."  I remember one time
   I was talking to someone at least I thought I was talking to the other and 
   I stopped taling so she could say something and she didn't say a word. I 
   asked her is she'd heard what I'd just said and didn't even get any response 
   to that just a "huh".  End of conversation.

   That's what I did and I saved my breath and didn't finish telling her what she'd
