Thanks Ed, I'll give Bob Hartage a call about the screen stuff.

BTW do you know if there is something akin to the xterm program that runs under
X for gwindows??? I would really like to get a jump scroll in a shell window in
gwindows and it seems like putting it into a terminal emulator (ala xterm) is
the accepted way to do it. I wasn't too familiar with X until recently but I
have done some programming in windoze and the app is responsible for jump
scrolling there. I guesssupII in X is just an app that will let you run shell
processes.
