Agreed -

All you have to do is setenv PRINTER "xxx" and then use that environment
variable (allocating separate buffers for the t* functions) with standard
termcap style.

Also - while it's probably not wonderful style, you can create your own termcap
mnemonics for a printer's capabilities if they don't map well onto the standard
termcap defs.
