You might try going into the init module with moded and increase the cold start
retry count.  Run moded on the bootfile and step down through until you see an
entry called "coldstart 'chd' retry count" and increase the number there.  Mine
is set to 50, but you may need to make it higher than that.  If that doesn't
work, I'm at a loss for what to try next. Perhaps someone else here with one of
those ROMs will be able to help more.
