You can also look at it this way... unless you're a warrior (in which
case you wouldn't have dfir, heh) or witchunter, you're not gonna have
enough hp at level 35 to stand up to this...
You surprise slash Blah for 137 damage!
Blah is scorched for 20 damage!
You surprise slash Blah for 153 damage!
Blah drops to the ground!
Blah is dead.
Believe me, you can't do anything to a sneaker until you can CATCH them,
and that's hard.  I've killed a level 36 witchunter without losing any
hp, and this is in the arena when he knew I was coming.  Surprise does
wonders... outside the arena, most people will be surprised at getting
backstabbed, and you can usually get an extra bs off on them. An extra
bs HURTS at level 30+... right now at 37 I can bs for up to 185, lots of
fun.
