Is this in there to stay?  I thought you didn't like the idea?  What about
forking the shell?  I mentioned that apparently you only look at the shell
environment variable when forking a shell to execute a script.  What is needed,
I'd suppose, is a variable for what shell to fork for an interactive session
and what to fork for a script.
