       well, i'd pick an elf because of the proposed changes (mana
bonuses, etc), as for stats i'd get my intellect to 80, strength 40,
charm 50, wisdom 50, and health 70..  i'm not sure if you'd be able to
get intellect to 80 but get it as close as you can.  you'd need it for
spellcasting which is basically the only way a mage can fight
effectively.
