Hmmm.  I've thought about it and want to know what you think.  Say the first
click on a data file enables the open.. option on the files menu. If you select
open, it will try to run it as a shell script, if you double click instead it
opens the file into the program specified by the environment variable EDITOR.

Or would it make more sense the other way around?

The Attr utils sounds neat.  How about gattr to differentiate from the regular
attr.  Your talking a point-n-click attr right?
