Bob,

If you could .... even though you don't have the paddle boards, you can attempt
to duplicate some of these problems. For instance, load the sc68901 driver (if
you don't already have it in memory), along with /t1. Start a shell on /t1 with
a  Shell -l >>/t1&

Confirm it with the DEVS and IRQS command.

Now ... attempt to access the floppy.

Let me know what happens.
