GA>Ok, this is for you, Inferno, and all other losers that can't admit
GA>anything. I guess arguing with common sense isn't good enough for you
GA>because you don't have any. So I will waste an entire 10 minutes of my
GA>time backing up the numbers I gave with detailed explanations, all for
GA>you. Let's say you own your car for what, 8 years? The average amount
GA>of mileage driven in 1 year is about 15,000. 15,000 x 8 = 120k miles.
GA>Gas prices average about $1.40/gallon nowadays. Camaro Z28's average 17
GA>MPG. Integra GS-R's average 30. (120,000/17) x $1.4 = Camaro = $9,882.
GA>(120,000/30) x $1.4 = Integra = $5,600. $9,882 - $5,600 = $4,282 lost.
GA>OUCH. That's just for gas.
GA>Now on to resale value. I'm looking at the classifieds section of my
GA>paper right now, and I see 90's Integras ranging from $6,000-$14,000.
GA>The same year Camaros range from $4,000-$8,000. Which means anywhere
GA>from another $2,000-$6,000 lost. I also know that if you try to sell a
GA>Camaro right after you buy it, you'll have to settle for the mid-teens,
GA>while if you try to sell an Integra, you can get away with selling it
GA>for only about $1,000 less than what you bought it for.
GA>Reliability is the one that varies. I can't give you any specific
Okay, I agree with what you're saying on the gas mileage part. I never
did disagree that an Integra gets better gas mileage than a Z28. One
thing I have to point out though is that you're comparing prices for
90's Integras to 90's Camaros. But what you're failing to take into
consideration is that the Camaros are cheaper to begin with than the
Integras. So of course it's going to still be the cheaper car when
comparing used cars. You can't expect a car that costs more new than
the car you're comparing it to, to still not cost more used...unless
it's in poor condition.
And just another thing to add in about the gas mileage part, if you use
anything less than premium gasoline (93/92 octane) in a Z28 you will
definately notice a difference in performance. Whereas, in an Integra
you could probably get away with using mid-grade or even regular without
noticing a big difference in performance. Thus reducing those gasoline
figures even more. That's the advantage the Integra has over the Z28.
However, the speed/power factor weighs heavily in the Z28's favor. So I
mean, it's up to the individual and what they're looking for as to which
car to choose. Personally, I'd take an Integra any day, if it was going
to be my daily driver car...because I have my muscle truck I can pull
out when I feel like blasting down the street. But if I didn't have my
truck in reserve, I'd take the Z28 because I'd rather have the power
available for when I want to get nuts than extra gas mileage. Well
actually, I'd rather take a Formula instead cuz I think they look
better...and I've always loved the Pontiac birds more than the Camaro.
