Nope, nothing seems to ever reach the modem.  I especially suspect that
considering no AT command does anything.  I always specify a port since it
seems to be required.  Just sterm didn't work with anything (incl. the modem
pak) when I tried that.  It's been a good while, so I no longer recall exactly
what happened.
