If you've got net access, look around for source or libraries which
handle the formats you want to use. PCX and BMP fromats are well supported.
If you don't have access i can post you the PCX or BMP file formats and you
can go from there and write your own routine (good luck :-))
Another shot may be the gamedev archives, i think MPCUG has them somewhere.
