Replying to a message of Dan Ceppa to Ross Cassell: DC>> You still don't get it. Bob has already shpwn that old IBM code runs DC>> just fine on their newest systems. there is no need to re-invent DC>> the wheel everytime M# comes out with a new peice of junk OS because DC>> M$ can't and/or won't get it right. RC>> No one in this echo is using in the home environ IBM mainframe DC> The point has flown completely over your head. Your much happier to DC> re-invent the wheel because Billy and company want you to. Actually I just happen to have my own personal IBM 9672 - which is an IBM S/390 mainframe, complete with an Amdahl Spectris HD array (which was wiped before the company released it). It's perfectly functional and was running right up to the moment I shut it down for good back in 2004. While I don't have OS/390 for it I do have Debian Linux for the S/390, and if I had the juice (100 amp 3 phase service) and the scratch to pay for it ($3K/month) I could configure it with 255 virtual Linux systems - literally a server farm in a box. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/200 331 14/250 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 SEEN-BY: 261/1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/104 260 267 SEEN-BY: 633/285 690/682 734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2320/100 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
