10" is nothing to sneeze at. With atmospheric effects to contend with
it is about optimum for critical observing of lunar/planetary objects.
8" is my favorite size for fine optics.

Subject: ATM update on 10"
Hi All -
After a series of tile-tool problems (which I posted about here) I'm happy
to write that I have finished with grinding and am ready to trim, cold
press and re-trim my pitch lap and begin the polishing on my 10"
mirror.
I know a 10" is probably no big whoop to anyone here -- but it's my
first and I'm, well, slightly proud to have made it this far. Maybe I've
atoned for abandoning my 6" mirror when I was sixteen-ish and the
girls (well, thinkin' about them, anyway) and theatre took over my life. :)
Thanks to everyone who helped out when I was stymied with a tool that
seemed to be coming apart ...
Best,
Glenn
