Personally, I think there's been much less change than has been recorded,
but a large number of Jews are ashamed of their implicit connection with
Israel and simply don't state their religious affiliation.

But there is, nevertheless, an underlying world wide decline. 
Superstitions are dying out all over - you get much the same sort of
numbers if you ask how many still believe in fairies or Santa Claus.
