I'm writing this because I want all of you to know what's currently going
on in my life.

BTW, it's not good.

For a bit over a year, I've been unsuccessfully pursuing a divorce with
Nancy. My attorney actually prepared a marital settlement agreement over a
year ago. But she refused to agree to it. Fast forward, and now she is
agreeing to what is essentially the same agreement drafted in November of
2004.  We had also agreed to sell our home, but after a sale
fell through, Nancy decided to stay, and we agreed to a price which she
would pay for my interest. The price was agreed to in August, a closing
date was scheduled for last Friday (I know -- 4 months!), but that fell
through. 

In addition, I have been in a relationship with a woman with whom I fell
way too far in love, AND have attempted to start a financial planning
business. Both have failed, and the financial cost to me has been drastic.
Because of a move, I can't follow the original business/marketing plan I
had drafted. I spent quite a bit of money in this (stupid me), but there
has been very little reciprocity on her part. In reality, I feel treated as
little more than a slave.

I've been continuing an on-line course to help me obtain my certification
as a financial planner (CFP), and I'm about 2/3 of the way through (the
current final exam in Income Tax Planning is a bear).

So...

I'm leaving the relationship as of tomorrow (Tuesday). I'm moving back to
Illinois with the prospect of a job similar to what I was doing for the
State of Illinois, working under contract as a trainer in investments. I
don't even know if that will work out, but I need to get away from the
place I'm in now.

I'm pretty much broke, but not broken. I did for a time recently consider
suicide. But I am blessed with family and friends who have committed to
help me through this bad time.

I'm telling you all this because many of us here have shared our stories,
albeit perhaps not in this amount of detail.
