The Laser 128 had decent sales from what I remember.  I was tempted to get
one as a spare computer, but I already had (2) Apple //c systems and an
Apple //gs. THe BBS at the time ran on one of the //c systems.  I got out
of Apple once they dropped the // line.

There seem to always be some people that prefer Macs.  A much smaller
percentage, but they are out there.  

I started in IT at the ripe age of 18 years old.  Been in it ever since.
