Quoting Patricia Ferrara
FF> It was on the shelf when I took out "Kiss The Girls" but I
FF> didn't want to take out two books by an author that was new
FF> to me. It will probably be checked-out when I look for it.
FF> Not that I'm a pessimist or anything...
I can understand you not taking more than one book by the same
author. Especially if you've never read him before. How do you
know if you'll like him/her.
Well, if the book is checked out you can always reserve it. I do that
at times. I wouldn't call you a pessimist. More like cautious. :}.
dr> Travis McGee lives aboard a boat called the Busted Flush and
dr> has a friend by the name of Meyer. I think he does have money.
FF> I think Susan Bulla was right... I was thinking of Lawrence
FF> Sanders' McNally series. I've added the Travis McGee series
FF> to my list. Thanks!
If you would like a list of the McGee series, I will post it
for you. Let me know.
Do you like Sanders? I've read some of his older books and liked
them, however, was not impressed with McNally's Risk, etc. Feel
it's a complete rip off of the Nero Wolfe series. Once again, a
good writer who has slipped in his later books. But that's only
my opinion.
dr> Crazy weather, but Southern Cal.
dr> is notorious for that. Never know how to dress from one day to the
dr> next.
FF> And I thought it was Southern Cal that always had mild
FF> temperatures. I've never been to California. New Orleans area
FF> weather is ever-changing, too. People often blame cold and flu
FF> epidemics on drastic weather changes. We're having a stretch of
FF> cool, dry weather. For me, that's always a welcome change.
Usually we do have mild temperatures, but we do have spells of
warm weather sometimes, and never when we're supposed to, like
Summer. (smile). And we are very spoiled. If the temperature
drops below 50 we gripe.
FF> people who visited this area during the winter said they couldn't
FF> wait to get back to the freezing temperatures back home. I guess
FF> our humid cold kind of chills to the bone.
Yeah, it does have a tendency to do that. Guess we're never
satisfied, whatever the conditions.
FF> As for our summers, there were similar feelings expressed by
FF> visitors. Many said that they could feel the humidity when the
FF> plane started it's descent. I don't know about that but I know
FF> that when you step off of the plane into the terminal, the
FF> humidity seems pretty thick.
At one time my oldest son lived in Baton Rouge. I visited him there
in the summer. It's a beautiful place full of history, but I sure
didn't like what the humidity brings. Your mosquitoes could pass
for dive bombers. Other than that, was fascinated with the place.
Didn't get to stay long enough to take in NO but hope too some
day. I'm a history buff and love to visit cities that are full of
historical things. Wish I had the $$ to travel all over. Oh well,
maybe when I sell my novel will be able to do that. One can dream
anyhow.
Talk to you later, and let me know if you find a good mystery. (G).
