MP> V34terbo is 33k6

 JP> V.34+.

IS> Just another industry nickname (and just two new rates using V.34
 IS> technology).

 JP> I haven't heard of V.34terbo before.

Me neither :) I was referring to your 'V.34+'.

MP> I'm not sure what the last one's protocol is actually called. It might
MP> be V34+ or something similar.

JP> Correct; soon to be ratified as V.34bis.

IS> Common myth, it seems. 'V.34 (1996)', last we heard from the ITU-T
 IS> watchers.

JP> I haven't heard much lately. Until I purchased my Courier
JP> over a week ago, I hadn't been following developments on
 JP> V.34(+/bis).

 JP> Will there BE a V.34bis?

Someday, maybe, who knows? This isn't it, though; there's essentially no
new technology involved, just refining the techniques a bit; hardly
comparable to the differences between, say, V.32 and V.32bis.

JP> On another topic, I was lucky enough to find a NetComm
JP> PCMCIA (CardModem) today for $99.

An excellent price, if it works well.

Ian
