Hello, all

This a follow up to the thread concerning the presence of grit embedded in wax filled
channels. Many thanks to everyone who responded to my original query.

I have been advised a number of possible paths to follow, from completely
replacing the
wax with epoxy to replacing the wax at the end of every grit stage. However, I have
chosen the path of least resistance, which is to continue more or less what
I have been
doing. The idea is to scrape out the upper layer of the wax as and when
required, thus
removing most of the offending particles, then remelting it to sink whatever remains
to below the surface and, finally, refilling with fresh wax wherever needed.

This procedure was followed upto the end of the 120 grit stage, then
switching down to
220 grit. At present I am nearly at the end of the 220 grit stage, and the process
seems to be working OK. The pits are reducing rapidly, and a few more sessions should
see me through into the 400 grit stage.

Sincerely,
Kartik Patel,
