There are other ways to protect yourself which are more efficient and less
risky than a stop-loss order.

By itself, a stop-loss won't protect an individual investor in an Enron or
Worldcom scenario (large single-day losses). Institutional investors will
get priority, and that stop-loss at 64 will turn into selling your shares
at 52.
