I agree. Personally, stop-loss orders can be helpful in the short term. My
problem with them stems from the philosophy, which is pessimistic. An
investor must be very careful to make the order fit the stock. A technology
stock might actually lose 10% of its value in a short period. If a utility
stock lost 5% of its value in a day, it would be problematic.
There are other options of course.
