TT> The Community RS-880 is rated at 131db @ 1w/1m ...
TS> Surely you're not suggesting that any full range

TO> The Community RS-880 is rated 107db @ 1watt @ 1 meter. Mr Trace is

TS> That's beleivable, for a maximum input power of 200-250 W, unlike the

TS> Is that cabinet pathetic over 20-60 or 80 Hz, with good 100 - 18 kHz
TS> or so efficiency?
The RS-880 has 2 horn loaded 15" LF drivers, and is rated down to
45 cycles (-3db). The VBS-415 sub that is matched to the RS-880
system has 4 15" front loaded LF drivers, and is rated down to 25
cycles (-3db). The VBS-415's sensitivity is 103db @ 1W/1M. There is
certainly a difference in efficiency between the two cabinets, but
when interfaced with the control electronics, it is one of the best
sounding systems I have ever heard, and there is no lack of low end!
In fact, I have often considered suggesting it as a cure for
constipation. When I say it is one of the best sounding systems
I have ever heard, (and I have heard them all) I mean that it is
*very* musical and transparent, (not to mention powerful) and the only
thing that I like better is Meyer gear. The difference is that Meyer
gear just doesn't compare in the low end without doubling up on the
subs. Even then, the VBS-415's low end is "faster" and somehow more
pleasing. Those 15" triple spider, long excursion, ferrofluid cooled
drivers are works of art! Take care.
... If it's professional.............it ain't Peavey!
