-=> Quoting Ray Mcconnell to Peter Shute <=- RM> Yeah, you can do that. (Sorry dunno how to quote? Maybe you can tell RM> me?) But I just leave it on because my dad get's cheesed when people RM> can't call in. I use BlueWave offline reader. This is by far the best way to read/answer mail. I have configured which areas I want to read. I just log in, down- load my mail, and logout again. I can get hundreds of mail items and still only be logged in for a few minutes. Then I can spend hours reading and replying without tying up the phone line. That's why I don't need call waiting. (If you were to use it, even with call waiting on, you might be so quick that the chances of being interrupted are slim enough to be acceptable. BlueWave is available on the BBS, as are several other offline readers. Bluewave seems to be the most popular on the BBS.) Next time I login, I upload my replies, and download more mail. BlueWave asks if you want to quote as soon as you select Reply. If you're entering mail directly via the BBS I think you hit R to reply to the mail item you're reading. It then throws you into an editor. First thing to do is press control-k, then r, then control-k, then c. That copies the text into your reply. It's a good idea to always quote enough of the original mail to remind other readers what you're replying to. When you read and answer dozens of letters a day it's hopeless trying to remember what you said. ---* Origin: Melbourne PC User Group +61-3-9699-6788 (3:632/309) SEEN-BY: 3/103 50/99 620/243 621/525 624/300 625/100 632/50 107 108 309 329 SEEN-BY: 632/348 360 371 525 533 633/371 634/396 635/301 402 502 503 506 541 SEEN-BY: 635/544 639/252 711/409 413 430 808 809 932 934 712/515 713/888 SEEN-BY: 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 632/309 107 635/503 50/99 711/808 934 |
