AA> a waste of time!

You aren't reading, Albert. Each of those stats is a good readout of the
line characteristics for the link in question. The modem is more or less
irrelevant, other than as a measuring instrument.

S/N, frequency response, and bit error rate.

There was a time not too long ago, when figures like that would have
engendered offers of good right arm for said information.

AA> I don't know who the moderator of this area is offhand but perhaps they
AA> might like to consider declaring those USR stats postings off topic.

Yup. "Useful, ban it." Typical Fido. You should run for the
*C - you'd be right at home. Or join Telstra - who do have a vested
interest in suppressing the information being posted.

AA> Surely those discussions would be more appropriate in USR_MODEMS.

AA> Not everyone owns or wants to own a USR.

And of course, has no interest whatever in telephone lines, since all the
rest of you communicate by telepathy. (Try and pick up the thought I'm
sending you NOW...:-)

AA> Regards,

No.
