Whew. AFAIK it doesn't redefine the standard library, and fflush'ing a
non-FILE* would be tantamount to suicide.

The slang library is kinda weird, but the approach there is easier (imho)
to understand than UNIX curses, which is the alternative - certainly it is
more portable (don't get me started on curses, or that's what you'll get!).
Besides, it does a lot more than just console/terminal I/O - it provides an
embedded language (called, strangely enough, slang) which is fairly c-like.
Useful.
