Thank you.  I will mention this to the landlord, possibly even get some
myself and use it before he paints.  He said he would have to use an
oil-based paint to cover the stain.  I don't know if he's talking through
his hat or not.  He's a fairly decent amateur handyman, but there are
definitely gaps in his knowledge--is lousy when it comes to plumbing!

Last weekend when I was up at Mother's I got her peony cages around the
peonies.  She made hers out of the low wire fencing (14"-18" tall) they
sell at greenhouses and garden supply stores, and they seem to work
reasonably well.  This is an unusual year--the lilacs and the irises are
blooming at the same time here.  The peonies haven't started yet,
although they have buds.  Of course, it hadn't gotten above the
mid-sixties except for one or two days until yesterday.  I've got my
fingers crossed that we'll have more seasonable weather from here on out.

Hope you had a very happy birthday and many happy returns!  As one of the
gals I used to work with said, when they told her that life began at 50,
they didn't bother to tell her that it ended at 51!!!
