subject: CFRoute

Hello Torsten,

AI>> I am wondering if anyone is maintaining (or would like to) CFRoute?
AI>> Looking at the ChangeLog it looks like it hasn't been updated since 2002.
AI>> When I run make I get several .o files but no binary. Maybe changes in
AI>> gcc since 2002? I'm not sure but if anyone is interested I could use CFR.

TB> Well, some basic things have changed at the husky-sourcetree since
 TB> 2002.

That's what I was afraid of.. :)

TB> For example the jam-msg-base has been added, and by this some
 TB> definitions
TB> changed or aren't expandet. Also the lanius maximus api's went away, and,
TB> this isn't understandable, most of the old watcom dos16, dos32 and
TB> emx-os/2 stuff wasn't readded by the linux developers. Even worser, the
TB> code is deleted. Because of this, I have had to rewrite most of the
TB> makefiles and to grind out the 'old' non linux stuff.

That sounds like a nightmare. If I was a coder I would be in there with you
and do whatever I could to get things working. But I'm not. :(

TB> Honesly, it's dicussting, reading hours and hours around to readd the
TB> code. But, it's quite simple to leave old code:

 TB> #if defined (__pragma__)
 TB> [code.....]
 TB> #endif

TB> And nearly nothing!!!! is documentated... or in kyrillic... witch is
TB> unreadable with a english or german codepage.... Anyway, I'm a tiny little
TB> bit pissed off about this.

Sounds like linux. I have questions that I'm sure must be answered
somewhere, But where? That situation has improved, but still.. :)

 TB> Well...

TB> I'm currently porting all! of the libarys from alberto pasquale (
TB> Developer of FastList, NEF and FLM) to the husky environment. I've ported
TB> some of the old style libs and re-added them into my local sourcetree.

That is good news, and it was going to be my next question. I've been using
old dos tools with dosemu to create a v7 nodelist and wondering if that
could be done with FastList but that doesn't compile here either.

TB> Currently I haven't ported cfr to the husky1.9.xx tree, so feel free
TB> to write the makefiles and adopt the code to your need.

I can't adapt the code since I'm not a coder. Makefiles are not my strength
either but I may do some experimenting and see if I can make a difference.

TB> But.... pleaaaase.... do never ever delete anything.

I always end up regretting that and I won't do it again! :)

What I can help with though is documentation. If you are working on a
project that needs documetation updating I can and wouldn't mind helping
with that.

I'm a good citizen of North America though, and my only language is
english. Even if I have original documents in another language between
myself and google translate I could get something done along those lines.
I'm just a netmail away.

 Ttyl :-),
         Al
