  If you are looking for a decent Cad package and are willing to spend
some money then Rhinocero 3D is one of the best values for the money
around.  The new version 3.0 has full time render windows you can use as
you draw.   I designed a 16" scope complete in Rhino before I built
it.
 The full price is about  $900 usd .
  But remember that is is a design program and not a drafting program.
 Rhino does have some basic dimensioning  features but not like a 2d
drafting package.
  There is a full feature demo with limited save functions(up to 25
saves), its worth a try.
