Oh bullshit, let me explain to you how it works. There are different mixes
of gasoline, mix A gives me 22mpg in my truck, mix B gives me 18mpg.

During the height of the refining capacity crunch they were churning out
mix A, I watch my mpg on every tank full and it was painfully obvious. Then
as the price started to drop so did my milage, until as we touched $2/gal
they were fully back to mix B.

Now work the numbers 22mpg vs 18mpg, that's a 20% difference which means by
changing mix they can affect demand by up to 20%. Ok now even though
gasoline prices are now at about $2.20/gal usage has climbed back up by
9million barrels per day which one would expect if suddenly everyone were
getting 20% fewer miles per gallon.

It's a game Gary, gasoline prices are being manipulated and the oil
companies are all too happy to help since it's making them rich. The
government is using gasoline prices as a secondary control over inflation
(higher gas prices means they can raise interest rates 0.25% to make
everyone think inflation is under control). This is why you don't hear
every congresscritter on the planet screaming that the oil companies are
stuffing it up our butts.
