>Yes, however only one period at the end of the second Eon was=20
civilization totally extinguished. The Slaver/Ticup War of a billion=20
years ago pretty much wiped out sentient life not in the post=20
technological phase. Ticup seeding assured that the interval was short.
Is this canon (although "canon" here would be the animated
series) or is this an idea borrowed from Niven's "Known Space"
timeline? I've never heard mention the Ticup before. Is this part of
Garry-Trek?
>It would ebb and flow. I consider the eons to be galaxy wide.=20
Generations can be localized.
I could work with this. I'd like to set up some dates for this, although
this might involve trying to figure out how old the galaxy is. I could
well imagine that in the first half of its existence, the galaxy might have
had no life beyond some of the most primitive, most basic forms.
>Ekos and Zeon are secondary civilizations. The Equinods are a secondary=20
civilization. The show the classic signs. Interrelated species on=20
different worlds. A sentient lifeform that does not share a genetic=20
past with the planet they live on, and last, archeological evidence of a=20
distant stardrive era. 5000 year old warp coils found on Friesa might=20
be a clue.
Where is the original homeworld of the Ekosians and Zeons (being Preserver
plants doesn't count)? The equinods, I presume, are a Garry-Trek species.
The part "sentient lifeform does not share a genetic past with the
planet t= hey
live on" reminds me of the Odonans, and how they really had no idea of
evolution (the original lifeforms on Odona were small and did not leave a
l= ot
of good fossils) and how this could influence the development of science in
a society. Clearly, the second-generation race might honestly believe they
were "created" since they could not have evolved on the planet,
and th= e
history of them arriving on the planet might well become a mythology. It
almost wants to make me come up with a new race that more clearly is aware
of this aspect of being a second-generation civilization than the Odonans
are aware.
