i got my modem in may, the option of getting a 33.6k modem was only $30, u 
know why i don't have a 33.6k? because i didn't want one and know that i 
would hardly ever get 33.6k connection speed, its a hard fact of life that 
no one can always get good conection speeds without fibre optics or by luck
